When I retired in March 2006, I had already committed to joining the 2006 RNVRYC Rally starting early July in St Vaast La Hougue and finishing in Deauville. This didn’t leave very long to get the boat finished.
John Shaw- JWS Marine Services in Southsea Marina- was invaluable and his advice on wooden boats was always right.
We had to rout out and spline all the seams which the slow work in the Hamble had allowed to dry out. Then it became obvious that the blue paint just absorbed too much heat, so the upperworks were painted white.
I did various jobs round the boat and finally completed the installation of all the systems sufficiently to go to sea.
The rubbish that you can see was left over from the previous work, of course.
