We left Southsea on 7th July 2006 leaving St Catherine’s Point astern after a suitable interval.
Of crossing the Channel, one cannot say much, to quote Flanders and Swann, except in the middle we had an interesting moment when one of the fuel filters burst (rusty) and a jet of fuel luckily pointed away from the turbocharger. Thanks to Volvo Service for that. Also thanks to hourly rounds routine.
Arriving in St Vaast la Hougue I was relieved that we had survived!
So we had the most expensive fender in the harbour on a quay where visitors were strictly forbidden( see photo). But we were in France.
And they sold oysters!
Since visitors were forbidden on the pontoon where we had been told to go, there was therefore nothing wrong in having 6 more boats berth outside us. We had picked Rally Weekend!
The log, including a report on the camels, is on the next page together with the port plans and photos-
This is not as good as the Google Earth Chart.
